Canada Clean50 Awards 2021

We are delighted to announce that our Founder and CEO Sandra Phillips is the recipient of a 2021 Canada Clean50 Award, for her ‘Exceptional Contributions to Clean Capitalism.’ https://www.clean50.com

Clean50 B 2021

“Canada’s Clean50 Awards are announced annually by Delta Management Group and the Clean50 organization to recognize those 50 individuals or small teams, from 16 different categories, who have done the most to advance the cause of sustainability and clean capitalism in Canada over the past 2 years.”

”Delta’s criteria in determining Honourees is to carefully consider actual measurable accomplishments, demonstrated innovation, collaboration with other organizations, and the power of the Honouree’s contribution to inspire other Canadians to take similar action”.

– Gavin Pitchford, CEO, Delta Management Group

As a “Shared Mobility Architect”, Sandra has been advancing shared and electric mobility in Canada for the past decade, founding several carshare services like car2go, Evo and two small electric vehicle sharing services that have collectively removed 50,000 personal vehicles from the roads. Her most recent project is a “Mobility-as-a-Service” (MaaS) initiative in Vancouver that will offer public transit, bikeshare, and carshare programs through the regular public transit fare card with the goal of creating reliable and affordable mobility options to shift transportation behaviour away from SOVs (single owner vehicles.)

“Sandra Phillips was chosen after rigourous screening and research by Delta Management, with advice from internal researchers and external advisors, and was among Honourees selected from an initial pool of approximately 900 well qualified nominees. “

“The Clean50 honourees come from such a broad array of backgrounds, such that only a few individuals are able to be recognized within any given category. To receive a Clean50 award is truly indicative of both industry and personal leadership in the Manufacturing/Transportation category”.

– Gavin Pitchford, CEO, Delta Management Group

Canada’s Clean50 top project Award

We are also excited to announce the innovative Vancouver MaaS project, the Shared Mobility Pilot program is also the recipient of a Canada Clean50 Top Project Award. The program was a collaboration between TransLink, Evo Car Share, Mobi by ShawGo and Modo Co-operative and was made possible with the support of movmi. The program was successful in meeting the Clean50 Top Project’s criteria for an innovative, informative, and inspirational project.

TransLink’s collaboration with Evo Car ShareMobi by ShawGo and Modo Co-operative was formed as part of the inaugural Open Call for Innovation on “Seamless Mobility,” with the goal of making multimodal travel easier, more convenient, and more seamless.

Phase 1 of the Shared Mobility Pilot provided employees of select Vancouver-based organizations with a Shared Mobility Compass Card for use any of the four transportation providers. The Shared Mobility Pilot ran between October 2019 and August 2020 with 6,000 trips completed among approximately 160 employees of 13 organizations.

The Shared Mobility Compass Card could be used to access transit, carshare and bikeshare services for work-related travel. At the end of each month the participating organizations received one consolidated invoice tallying all trips. The pilot aimed to test the customer experience and technical integration of tying multimodal journeys together with a Compass Card.

Phase 1 of the pilot was highly rated among participants and the results indicate a mode shift towards more sustainable modes of transportation. 60% of users said that they used the card to replace the use of a personal vehicle for work-related travel. 56% of users said that the card changed their work-related travel behaviour by getting them to try a new mode of transportation or by combining different modes.

Data and lessons have been learned from this first phase to determine next steps, including a second phase of the pilot later this year. Stay tuned for more information! You can view the project summary report for more detailed findings.
