How we Helped Launch Evo Car Share, by BCAA

Mar 19, 2017

You may have heard of Evo Car Share, British Columbia’s free-floating carsharing service, but perhaps you didn’t know that movmi helped in its launch, headed by BCAA, and we are proud of what Evo has become today. Now with its fleet of Toyota Prius Hybrids, Evo provides a carsharing solution with affordable travel and a lighter environmental footprint.

Background of Evo

The British Columbian Automobile Association realised that it remains underpenetrated among the Millennial cohort with only 15% of BCAA Members. Early in 2014, they decided to offer a BCAA car sharing service to Millennials as a relevant gateway and entry point into the BCAA brand.

The goal was to launch a free-floating carsharing service with a four-door hybrid vehicle fleet with seating capacity for 5 adults that also reflected the outdoor and multi-modal BC lifestyle through the addition of bike and ski racks; the simplest, technology enabled, user experience; and the lowest rates in-market within 9 months.

Our Work with Evo

Consistent customer service and fleet operations are the foundation for a great user experience: they keep members on the road. We created a strategy for both departments and implemented them to ensure that Evo carshare offers the best carshare fleet and service in Vancouver.

We did this through:

  • Implementing an internal pilot project to test and validate the entire user experience
  • Creating a seamless infleeting chain that was supported by quality gates at each stage
  • Building an internal call center to ensure consistent customer service
  • Hiring dedicated teams and external service providers (fleet) and train them on key processes
  • Producing a complete library of all fleet and customer service processes collaborating with a variety of different internal stakeholders

In the words of Shan Parmar, Director carsharing:

“Sandra was a key part of the team that launched Evo Car Share. She is a great project manager that helped the team drive towards launch in under nine months. Sandra is a strategic thinker with a sharp mind and a drive to execute regardless of the obstacle. She takes a holistic approach to complex problems and is able to devise creative and pragmatic solutions.”

EVO car share Progress

Evo has since grown from their initial 250 vehicles to 1000 by December, 2016 and they continuously add parking in strategic locations, such as BCIT Burnaby Campus, English Bay at Pendrell and Denman, and near Victory Square at Cambie and Pender.
