Although I am a shared mobility planner, I work at the state level and do not connect closely to the work conducted in each community. So many of my responses are based on conversations I have had with city staff as they summarise the services. This course helped me see it from the ground up.

I found it really beneficial to think about the way that you organised the information - especially at this time when we are kicking off the statewide Shared Mobility Plan and thinking about how to communicate many of these concepts to partners who are both experts and completely unfamiliar with shared mobility.

It is important to understand how TDM policy is structured so it works long-term - for developers delivering the measures, for the people in those buildings, and for municipalities setting the policy. The tour showed what that looks like in practice.

Being out in front of real projects, sites, and infrastructure - and talking about what is actually working - is a completely different experience than any classroom or online setting. I came away having learned a lot and made real connections.

We got to hear from municipalities, operators, and developers all in the same tour. The perspectives on how B.C. operates its shared mobility ecosystem were genuinely eye-opening, and we are already thinking about how to apply these learnings to our own policy planning.

We have similar examples in The Hague, but the shared mobility uptake is not always where we would like it. Seeing the TDM measures here and visiting Modo's housing projects with bicycle stalls showed me how to make these things work in practice.

"Rural parallels, real ideas"

Limburg is a rural province with smaller cities - similar in some ways to parts of B.C. Seeing Vancouver, Victoria, and Whistler side by side was really valuable. The TDM measures were a genuine eye-opener and Modo's integration of shared cars into real developments gave us very concrete ideas to take home.
