Top Moments of 2024
We Collaborated with a diverse range of clients to co-develop highly innovative shared mobility services
This year, we had the privilege of working across more countries than ever before, tackling a wide array of transportation challenges. The experience reinforced a fundamental truth: transportation solutions cannot be copy-pasted; they must be carefully analyzed within the local context. Each project was a reminder of the importance of understanding unique community needs, cultural nuances, and infrastructure gaps.
At movmi, data is at the core of how we address these complexities. Whether it was analyzing user trends, aggregated trip data, and financials for carsharing projects like Europcar On-Demand and Awto, or planning EV carshare stations for Colorado Carshare, our data-driven approach has been key to delivering tailored and impactful solutions.
April 2024 brought a milestone moment as we proudly saw the launch of Metro Vancouver’s first-ever integrated multimodal MaaS project, RideLink. Spearheaded by TransLink in collaboration with Modo, Mobi, and Evo, this project represents a new era for seamless urban mobility. The user response so far has been exciting, and we look forward to reporting on the pilot’s impact as we move into the new year.
Our global efforts to expand shared micromobility continued in full swing this year. From advising BinBin in Turkey to supporting Sparrow Scooters here in BC, Canada, we’ve been thrilled to contribute to micromobility’s growth and success on both international and local fronts.
Innovation was a defining theme for us in 2024. We explored financial feasibility assessments and applied a behavioral science lens to improve ridership and user adoption. By designing targeted interventions linked to likelihood statistics, we developed impactful roadmaps that support sustainable economic growth. This fall, we also launched the first-ever Shared Micromobility Masterclass in London, in partnership with EIT Urban Mobility—a rewarding experience that showcased the power of knowledge-sharing within the industry.
Another highlight of the year was our work with Colorado Carshare and the City and County of Denver on readiness planning for EV carsharing expansion. This project delivered critical recommendations on how investments in electric vehicles and charging infrastructure can amplify community impact. By focusing on solutions that are not only equitable but also economically beneficial, we helped pave the way for more sustainable and accessible carshare operations.
As we reflect on 2024, we are immensely proud of the work we’ve done and the partnerships we’ve built. From piloting innovative solutions to scaling impactful projects, we remain committed to creating smarter, more equitable transportation systems for communities worldwide. Here’s to an even brighter, more connected year ahead!

We Advanced Active and Shared Mobility Through Key Conferences & Events
Active Transportation Summit 2024
In June, movmi co-hosted the Active Transportation Summit with the BC Cycling Coalition, supported by the BC Ministry of Transportation. This two-day event brought together 330 participants from government organizations, nonprofits, First Nations, infrastructure firms, and more to discuss the future of active and shared mobility in British Columbia.
Key takeaways from the summit included:
- Communities demand better infrastructure: The need for safer cycling lanes and multipurpose paths is clear, and communities want them built before committing to active transportation options.
- Increased funding is essential: Active transportation projects currently receive just 0.4% of BC’s transportation budget. Visionary planners are calling for a significant increase to realize projects that benefit all road users.
- We need better data: Government transportation data often has a car-centric bias, overlooking multimodal trips that combine walking, cycling, and transit.
- E-micromobility is transformative: Programs like Kelowna’s e-scooter and e-bike share have replaced 900,000 km of car trips since 2021, proving that micromobility is a viable alternative to car use.
- Collaboration is key: Breaking out of siloes and forming partnerships with unexpected allies, like water infrastructure planners, can accelerate active transportation goals.
- Rapid implementation works: Temporary solutions, like bollards and painted bike lanes, can kick-start infrastructure projects while data and public feedback justify permanent upgrades.
- Build it, and they will come: Safe and robust infrastructure drives active transportation adoption, even in car-centric cities like Calgary.
This summit reinforced our belief in integrated, equitable transportation ecosystems and inspired new ideas for advancing sustainable mobility.
